I was a little hesitant about the basis of this series when I picked up the first book. It read very much like Harry Potter to me in the synopsis. Poor boy is able to go to a special boarding school because of abilities. Enter bad guy (in this case, Norseland) and hero saves the day. I was quite pleasantly surprised.Henry and friends are similar in some ways to that series but overall the personalities are interesting and the different classes and explanation of knighthood takes over the imagination. In this novel, we enter at winter break for the students. Yes, the sequencing of the book is like Harry Potter but it makes sense considering where the last book left off. And yes, there's a secret battle society.
I do like the budding romance between Henry and Frankie. The different happenings in Norseland when the friends travel there are intriguing in the fact that they carry real world politics and issues between religion, race, and equality. Norseland has a feeling of communism and the corruption of power hungry political leaders.
The prince from the title seems a little obvious but I liked the twists and turns that the author took to get us to the point of knowing who it is. Overall, this book is an easy read with good action.

movie I would defiantly go and see it
I absolutely adored this book! It was a great sequel to Knightly Academy, with a budding romance, suspense, and was, of course, action packed. I was pleased to see Henry, Adam and Frankie the main characters of this sequel, though Rohan and the rest were still included. The characters in this book were very well developed, and the settings were so vivid the story was like a movie in my mind-a trait carried only by a great novel like this one.
This book was a great follow up story to Knightley Academy. I enjoyed everything but the ending. While the book was well written, paced nicely and had intrigue but the ending fell flat. I was left unsure if she's writing a 3rd book or dropping it here. I have a feeling she's writing a 3rd book but things were written just a bit too neatly. Almost as if the author is unsure and decided to tie things up. Either way, it's solid writing and a great plot so I hope that she IS writing more.
The Secret Prince is every bit as good as the first book. I just love the Knightley Academy series. Sure it has a bit of a similarity to Harry Potter, but in a good way - not in a cheesy copy way. The books are just really well written and filled with interesting characters. I would highly recommended it for young adults and adults who just enjoy a good adventure story!
I ordered this book for my 11-year-old son, but our entire family has enjoyed reading it. It's a little less intense than Harry Potter, but it has a similar feel (minus the magic). I think the ending was a bit of a stretch, though. If your kids like the Ranger's Apprentice series, they'll enjoy this one as well. We've already read the first two books, and we're looking forward to the next installment.
Great set of books. The only problem with it is that it ends unresolved and the author hasn't written a third book. Come 'on what's taking so long? We're begging you to continue the series.
