Every love story needs an obstacle to overcome. In Ashlinn Craven's Maybe Baby, high technology provides a whole new kind of challenge to romance. When a young career woman decides to donate an ovum to help another couple conceive, she finds herself facing new varieties of relationship complications.Polly Malone, an energetic designer of wedding Web sites, becomes involved almost by accident in the egg donation. Before long, a simple act of generosity has drawn in one partner’s unexpectedly attractive brother, his lunatic ex-wife, the machinations behind an impending corporate takeover, and the novel expressions of love in the digital age (“the modern-day equivalent of foreplay – heads touching as they stared into a single phone”). The combination of intimate biology and corporate strategy makes for a lively contrast, and the well-drawn, likable characters give the reader a solid reason to cheer the story along.
Maybe Baby is a thoroughly enjoyable read from start to finish – a perfect blend of wit, humor, and cutting-edge romance.

Maybe Baby Crimson Romance edition by Ashlinn Craven Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
What an enjoyable book! It tackled some tough subject matter - Invetro fertilization and the desire of a lesbian couple to have a baby when neither could be the egg donor. Although I got a little aggravated with how aggressive the character Karen became when there was potential problems with the egg and sperm donors, I had to remind myself what it was like to have those hormones coursing through my body when in the beginning stages of pregnancy. Of course she was not pregnant yet but was taking hormone therapy in preparation.
But this is primarily a love story and what a good love story it is! Polly and Julian have an unmistakable chemistry. They find themselves in some very unusual circumstances. I liked how they were there for each other when it was all said and done.
I received a free copy of this book in return for an honest review.
Polly Malone is good at taking precautions. But whenever she winds up in a fertility clinic to freeze her eggs, a stranger makes a request of her that sends her world into a tailspin. As Polly gears up to donate her eggs to a lesbian couple, she begins to realize exactly how much she'd have to sacrifice.
This book was adorable. I loved reading the thoughts of Polly and Julian as the book progressed. Ashlinn Craven did a masterful job at pacing the story. From the very beginning, you're thrust into the life of Polly effortlessly. As you learn more about her, you will grow to love her as I did. Whenever I had the opportunity to follow along from Julian's point of view, it added a whole different layer to the story. I'm so happy that Ashlinn wrote Maybe Baby this way.
The subject matter in this book was some heavy stuff, and I think that Ashlinn Craven handled it well. She had clearly researched her topic. I was never left feeling like part of the story was missing because a lack of details. Everything you need to know to follow along Polly's journey was provided flawlessly.
I loved how Ashlinn wrote the characters in this story. She took the time to really develop them, and the readers are rewarded with such well rounded characters to discover. Their motives were explained in a logical way. Too often, a plot is ignored for the sake of wrapping up the small details. But no such thing happened with Maybe Baby.
I highly recommend this book to any fan of chick lit. If you're a fan of Bridget Jones' Diary, you'll love this one. It's a fun read with the perfect happily ever after.
**I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. My thanks to Ashlinn Craven.
Well-written, fast-paced book kept my attention. Good character development with enough twists and turns to keep it original!
I devoured this book. Between really fun and engaging dialogue, characters that can't help but draw you in, and a richly developed storyline that deals with real-world problems, there is just so much to love about "Maybe Baby." Ashlinn Craven is talented writer with a very unique voice. Can't wait for her next book!
Funny, topical, bittersweet, this romance is a new favorite. The witty interplay between Polly and Julian, the compelling plot and issues this couple deal with on their rocky path to love is unique in the genre. There is a lot of humor and angst woven into their thoroughly modern quandary. Loved this book. Highly recommend.
I read Maybe Baby during a twenty-two hour flight from South Africa to London. I was looking for something light hearted and entertaining, and somebody suggested this book. I was delighted. Ms Craven has a charming writers voice, I must say. I enjoyed the fact that the plot came from an unexpected angel - IVF. Not only that, the premise, subject and controvercies are modern ones, and all who read this tale should be able to identify with the characters. The author knows how to add wit to her story telling as well as, all important, suspense. For those who enjoy women's literature, I'd recommend this engaging story.
This isn't your average boy meets girl type of book - it's smart, chick lit and I enjoyed every moment. It has the 21st century twists and turns of the variety of choices available for the modern woman, and Polly is going to take advantage of them. What follows is a scramble of emotions, decisions, and more in this well written novel.
